The UFC?s request to provide monitors for the judges at June?s ?UFC 131: Lesnar vs. Dos Santos? event has been granted by the Vancouver Athletic Commission.
Vancouver official Jonathan Tweedale told MMAJunkie:
?Hopefully this small step, along with mandatory education for all officials, will enhance the fairness and consistency of judges? decisions if other jurisdictions follow suit, the fighters deserve as much.?
The UFC?s VP of Regulatory Affairs Marc Ratner has also requested monitors for judges at UFC 130 on May 28 in Las Vegas. NSAC executive director Keith Kizer previously said he was not opposed to the use of monitors, but that they must be approved at an upcoming NSAC meeting.
This will not be the first time monitors have been used at a UFC event, monitors have previously been used at UFC on Versus 1, UFC 117, and UFC 121.
UFC 131 takes place in Vancover on June 11 at the Rogers Arena and is headlined by a bout between TUF 13 coaches Brock Lesnar and Junior Dos Santos for a shot at UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez.
