Google?s Chairman Says Relations with Apple Have Recently Improved

Eric SchmidtOld wounds heal slowly in the case of Apple?s former CEO Steve Jobs and current Google chairman Eric Schmidt. The painful scars are so deep that, even years after the falling out and following Jobs? passing, the two companies battle each other out openly with patent lawsuits. However, the tides seem to be changing. Yesterday, at the industry?s annual tech convention, the Allen & Company Sun Valley Conference, Schmidt expressed his feelings for the iPad maker, and they were positive.

According to the Business Insider, Schmidt told conference attendees that Google?s relationship with Apple has improved thanks to many meetings. According to a tweet from tech news writer and conference attendee Jessica Lessin, Schmidt was quoted as saying, ?These are two, well-run, different companies.?

Google and Apple have been on opposing teams since the former launched Android and the Chrome operating system. Prior to what Jobs described in Walter Isaacson?s biography as a ?grand betrayal,? he and Schmidt were on amicable terms. Schmidt served on Apple?s board until 2009 when Jobs went on full assault against the search engine giant with patent infringement lawsuits over what he considered a ?stolen product.?

Well, it looks like the two companies might finally be working out their differences, and may even come to some future agreements on Google integration. Let?s face it. No one wants Apple?s Maps app on their iPhone or iPad anymore.
