Cross-country headed to New Englands

Members of the Champlain Valley Union High School cross-country team are headed to Maine to compete in the New England Championships this weekend.

The challenging 3.1-mile course in Cumberland, Me. winds through woods and fields. Boys are set to begin at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, and girls at 12:30 p.m.

Last weekend, the CVU girls won the state championship at Thetford, and the boys took second place.

Former Redhawks start St. Michael?s hockey season

A Williston resident and former Redhawk is ready to start the hockey season at St. Michael?s College, with the first home game of the season on Friday.

Eric Robinson of Williston, a sophomore, played for three years at CVU. Senior Dan Evarts of Hinesburg?who played for a year at CVU?is also set to return this season as a captain.

Other local players include Connor Logan and Sam Torney, both from Shelburne.
