'authentic Literary Outlaw' Dan Fante To Read At Sedona's Poets ...

Sedona AZ (July 31, 2012) ? Elle magazine has described Dan Fante?s poetry having ?moments which brush the genius of Bukowski and Hubert Selby?. And LARC: Literary Arts for Rural Communities (aka NORAZ) is continuing the celebration of its sixth season of literature with a special Friday Poets Corner, in the Sedona Arts Center?s sculpture garden, on August 3 from 4-5 p.m. featuring the renowned poet and writer, Dan Fante.

?Fante?s writing gives me permission to say, with all the catharsis I can muster, everything I?m feeling.? says LARC founder, Christopher Ya?ir Lane. ?Fante doesn?t let up.?

Fante is the author of eleven books including poetry, plays, short fiction and several novels. In reviewing his current book, ? Fante: A Family Legacy of Drinking Writing and Surviving?, the Los Angeles Times said: ?Frank and Funny. An achievement in tone and delightful to read.?

The New York Times as also described Fante as an ??authentic literary outlaw.? He lives in Los Angeles with his wife Ayrin and son Giovanni.

Before his reading, Fante will offer a one hour inspirational talk about ?writing from the gut?. The talk is from 2:30 to 3:30, free and open to the public, but a suggested donation of $10 for Fante?s efforts are greatly appreciated and go directly to the author.

Then from 4-5 p.m., Fante will be reading from his new memoir, ?Fante: A Family?s Legacy of Writing, Drinking and Surviving and poetry from ?A Gin Pissing Raw Meat Eating Dual Carburetor Son of a Bitch from Los Angeles? and ?Kissed by a Fat Waitress?. A gentle reminder ? this reading is uncensored.

The Poets Corner takes place once a month on the first Friday of each month from 4-5 p.m. at the Sedona Arts Center located at 15 Art Barn Road in Uptown Sedona. Gatherings take place in the outside sculpture garden, weather permitting. Should inclement weather arise, the Poets Corner will meet in the south classroom of SAC.
